Autumn Light

blueness
a whisp of white
the harvest moon sinks
as I awaken to a new day
a new life
crispy air with a sense of desire
to continue
but the early darkness
drowns me in my
fear of living

Cleopatra

dualing glances
blink
a subtle smile of knowing
that multiple people
inside us
desire different things
a balance of light and dark forces
the third eye watching over
the other two
and then there is me
don't I count too
at a young age
I grow to learn about cake and
savoring it for awhile
but then
I eat it too
I like it here
but
I have to go
but wait
who is in charge
relax
it does not matter
it is all one piece

She Touched Me Softly

We meet for the first time
a peaceful setting
alone at a mountain brook
your gaze captures me
but something is amiss
we strike out to discover each other
down and up the dells
the pace quickens
a trail that is arduous
you are willing to keep up
alas we reach a spot
where everything is wonderfully clear

Vivian

it was her eyes
that longing for acknowledgment
someone who cared enough
to sweep her off her boredom
and carry her along
her question, desire
was so simple
yet now
no one had an answer for her
no one was willing to risk
that perceived sadness

The Best Party

Prompt:

waiting all day
for whatever
comes next

-- unknown

I waited my whole life for this moment.
They told me it was going to be
the best party I had ever thrown.
Unfortunately,
I would not be there,
but that is OK,
I would be there in spirit.

I lay there
full of peace
they were right.

Gino

I passed by 29 Palms yesterday
for the last time to see Gino

There he was teaching me
how to cook chicken
walking down the street in china town
looking for the best duck to be had
in all of San Francisco

Sleeping under the stars in Big Bend
we contemplated a life that was bigger
than both of us

Traveling across New Mexico we were
heading for the Mexican border
only to find the end in Big Bend

Musical Combinatorics

a flute
springs eternal
in the background
music all around

in the distant
a woman
peers softly

a warm garden awaits
all yellow
with red accents

a finite graph
of people and relationships
gather for friendship
and conversation
